CARE VILLAGE PRAISED FOR INSPIRING INDEPENDENCE IN ITS RESIDENTS
A care home in Nottinghamshire has been praised after residents were found to have "maximum choice and control of their lives".

KWIK CRICKET AT NOTTINGHAM CARE VILLAGE
Some junior members of the Ellerslie Cricket Club came along to play a game of Kwik Cricket at Nottingham Care Village, much to the delight of the residents. The children and the adults had great fun and the weather was perfect for the occasion. Our residents enjoyed watching and meeting the young members of the cricket team and repeat matches are being arranged.
Following the cricket match the junior members and their families enjoyed refreshments and home made cakes.
At Nottingham Care Village we look forward to welcoming the junior members and their families back in the near future.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY – FRIDAY, 17TH MARCH 2017
Nottingham Care Village was decked out in green, white and gold for St. Patrick’s Day. Residents and staff got fully engaged in the spirit of the day and were dressed in Irish outfits and headgear. The home even had its own ‘St. Patrick’ who gave a short history to residents and guests on the background of the Irish feast day. A troup of dancers from the Stanley School of Irish Dancing delighted all the guests with a wonderful display of Irish dancing. A selection of Irish songs and traditional music provided the background to the day. To add to the occasion, Irish Stew and Soda Bread were on the lunch menu as well as Guinness. Following lunch the residents were treated to a ‘cinema afternoon’ with the Irish film ‘The Quiet Man’.
Christmas Fayre at Nottingham Care Village
Nottingham Care Village hosted its first Christmas Fayre. There were a variety of home-made cakes available along with liqueur coffees and other drinks. The bric-a-brac stall had a lovely selection of toiletries and household items and the Tombola stall had a large selection of prizes to be won.
Residents and their families enjoyed the get together along with visitors to the home.
Christmas Fayre
Christmas Fayre to be held on Sunday 11th December 14.00 – 16.00. Various stalls, cakes, bric-a-brac, tombola, Santa’s grotto, everyone welcome to come along for mince pie and mulled wine, hot and cold refreshments.
Autumn Fayre
On Saturday, 15th October, Nottingham Care Village held its Autumn Fayre at which residents and guests enjoyed some sumptuous cakes, delicious snacks and various sweets. There was also a ‘guess the weight’ of a delicious chocolate cake specially made by Teresa, one of our Senior Carers. As well as tea and coffee, Irish Coffee was also available. The Bric-a-Brac Stall had everything from beautiful toiletries to candle holders. Raffle tickets were sold to win some of the lovely prizes on offer. Our residents joined in with some of the songs from over the years with our guest singer, Carolyn Jupe. A lovely afternoon was had by both residents and guests.
PAT A DOG
Our residents regularly enjoy visits from Nina Woodhouse who represents Pat a Dog. Our residents love to see the dogs and enjoy giving them treats.
